Hong Kong’s Best Burgers

Sarah Richard
Sarah Richard – World Wanderer

Let’s cut to the chase, you’re here for the good stuff, the juicy patties, the dripping cheese, the soft buns, the pickles (?), bacon, and everything in between. And, boy does Hong Kong have a lot of them. Here’s our top 5 – napkins at the ready, it’s gonna get juicy!

Butchers Club

Probably the most famous in town – if you haven’t heard of them it’s likely you’ve been living under a stone. We just hope it’s a burger shaped stone. There’s a reason they are so popular and it’s as simple as this. Their burgers are god damn AMAZING. No more words.

Must Try:
The Gambler – fried chicken, Buffalo hot sauce, blue cheese, coleslaw

G/F Sunwise Building, 112-114 Wellington Street, Central

Beef & Liberty

Who knew there was such a thing as a good vegetarian burger? Not us, until we went to Beef & Liberty that is (don’t worry we tried the non-veggie ones too). Their beetroot burger surprised the hell out of us and we absolutely loved it. These guys win for best veggie burgers, but also are high up there with best meaty burger too. We just love it all!

Must Try: Pump up the Beat – shredded beetroot, brown rice, seasoned with cumin, chili, coriander & topped off with goat’s cheese.

23 Wing Fung St, Wan Chai

Frites Belgium on tap

Not the first place you think of when you think of burgers – but that’s another reason we love it. Here you get to sit and really enjoy your chuck of meat without big ques or hungry burger-lovers. We love their restaurant in Causeway Bay tucked away from the craziness. And their burgers are the sort dreams are made of…

Must Try: Rich Man’s Burger – brioche bun, ground beef, bacon, caramelised onions, egg, lettuce, gherkin tomato and gruyere cheese

Shop 1 G/F Park Haven, No. 38 Haven Street, Causeway Bay

The Diner

Everything you could want in a burger and ridiculously good-looking too. This Instagram worth stack of meat even comes with a skirt – a cheese skirt. You know what they say about the Yanks? If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

Must Try: The Skirt Burger – grilled cheese “skirt”, with onion, lettuce, tomato, dill pickles and smoky mayo.

G/F,Shiu King Court, 4-8 Arbuthnot Rd, Central

Big Fernands

This major French hipster joint in IFC is one to note down sharpish! Not only are their burgers on point, but so are their fries, and just about everything else. There are always doing promotions – but don’t wait for them, go and get some of their juicy goodness EVERY TIME you are in IFC (bankers, this excludes you because you’ll get too fat)

Must Try: Le Big Fernand – Beef, Tomme de Savoie cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, parsley and Tata Fernand (Home-made cocktail sauce)

Shop 2017, 2/F, IFC Mall
