How You Can Support Those Affected by the Recent Floods

flood relief

As you may know, Queensland and New South Wales were recently devastatingly hit with extreme flooding. Whilst it hasn’t been the best start to the year, there’s been no better time to come together and help one another out. Whether you’re the type to donate, volunteer, or spread awareness, we’ve created a list of ways you can support those affected.

Donate

Fund an Appeal

GIVEIT Appeals is a platform that allows those in need to appeal for an item to be funded. With the recent flash flooding, there are currently plenty of people in need of little things like books to restock the Lismore Library, or sheets for a family of 7 who have lost all their bedding.

Go Fund Me

Across the East Coast of Australia floods and heavy rain have swept away homes, roads, and businesses forcing thousands to flee their homes. In response, communities are rallying together to get urgent relief to victims.

Donate to verified fundraisers for the QLD and NSW floods below or start fundraising to support local recovery efforts.

Australian Red Cross

Donations to the Qld and NSW Floods Appeal will help Red Cross provide vital humanitarian support to the people and communities affected by the floods.  Based on ongoing needs assessment in Queensland and NSW and amount raised, that support may include:

  • Support our immediate response on the ground including evacuations and relief centres
  • Enable longer term recovery work in flood-impacted communities
  • Contribute to the ongoing funding of the cash assistance grants program
  • Contribute to the essential support costs to make all this work possible

Food Bank

FoodBank is ‘the pantry to the charity sector’. Typically, Foodbank provides food relief to more than a million people each month. However, with more than 15 flood evacuation orders now in place, there is more and more need for donations to provide food relief.

FoodBank will be urgently packing their crisis hampers and getting them to the front line as quickly as they can, and financial donations mean they can source food to make these. For every $1 donated they can provide $6 worth of food.
