10 Ovolo New Year Resolutions

10 Ovolo New Year Resolutions

It’s the height of the New Year, New Me season once again! With the start of a new year, it is perfect time to begin a new chapter in your life. It’s the perfect catalyst to commit to change. It’s a fantastic opportunity to let rid of harmful habits and establish new ones that will help us grow as individuals.

The Ovolo team’s collective goal is to have an even better year and conquer more! As another unpredictable year draws to a close, we figured there was no better time than now to take a look back on the past 12 months to see how far we’ve come and look ahead to the next 12.

We’ve rounded up a list of 10 of our colleagues’ unexpected joys from the past year, as well as words to describe it, words to hope for next year, and their top New Year’s resolution for 2022.

Juan Gimenez

  • What was an unexpected joy this past year?
2020 was a tough year and I think 2021 we all somehow expected this whole covid thing to blow over. Which of course it didn’t. The big difference though was that we chose to shine! We became extremely productive the amount of Stuff we got done was incredible! I can look back at 2021 and be proud and full of happiness with all that was achieved, we might have not done it all, but we tried and got really close to ticking all boxes! On a more personal note, I think it’s been tough to not be able to visit family back in Argentina, I mean we always talk or FaceTime, but this really highlighted for me how important human connection is. I can still remember the last hug, the handshake grip, the silly banter and even how that moment smelled, with my brothers and parents, on my last visit early 2019 and not really knowing that I wouldn’t be back in such a long time. So now I try to remind myself of the value of every second, every smile, tear, and any moment good or bad, with my family and friends here in Hong Kong because honestly you never know what could happen next.
  • What are 3 words you would use to describe this last year, and what are 3 words you would hope for 2022 to be?
2021: Fruitful, illuminating yet somehow feeble
2022: I hope it’s abundant, dynamic and resilient!
  • What is your top New Year’s resolution for 2022 and why?
I normally write my goals for the new year early Jan. After I assess how I did on the previous years and revisit the things I couldn’t accomplish and find why I couldn’t. As I mentioned, 2021 was a very productive year and I managed to hit 80%. I divide my goals in three big areas: Work, Family & Friends and Personal Development and subsequently divide this into subcategories. The area that I slacked the most so far and would try to focus on 2022 was within Personal development, the fitness subcategory– so that would be my main priority for 2022.

  • What is your top New Year’s resolution for 2022 and why?
All about connection, communication and dynamicity. People First; guests, each other and also personally- family & friends/ dogs and cats. Being kind, acting with courage and building on our foundations to conquer anything we place our minds to.  F.U.N, that’s who we are.

Too many of us use our New Year’s resolution to condemn or punish ourselves for not being good enough, but this isn’t a smart method to motivate ourselves to improve. If anything, it only makes us feel worse! Make resolutions based on self-compassion instead and you’ll find that you’re able to stick to your resolutions and feel happier. If you commit to these kinds of resolutions, you’ll notice that you’re healthier, more balanced, and ultimately able to enjoy life more as a result!

Good luck, and happy 2022!
