Rick-LauWe look forward to the debut appearance of jewellery designer Rick Lau at In bed With Designers, Hong Kong next month. Rick will be bringing his two brands, Art Debuts and What the Fuss, to the Ovolo Southside Hotel for the 5th edition of our boutique designer sleepover. We caught up with the Hong Kong designer to find out why he is excited for In bed With Designers, and which designs he will be showcasing at our event.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s In bed With Designers?

To meet potential retail buyers, and beautiful women!

Could you tell us a bit more about the design you have submitted for the Spot Design Award?

I have submitted the ‘Victoria’ skull ring. It is a vintage-inspired design that looks like it has history to it, and yet, it is also a very hip and contemporary accessory.

What other designs will you be bringing to Hong Kong?

As for my brand ‘Art Debuts’, we are currently creating new bangles featuring interesting prints. I will also bring my brand ‘What the fuss’ to In bed With Designers, showcasing jewellery designs that can be best described as ‘dark Gothic with a bit of romance’.

My creations are all about showing my views on life, society, cultural issues, and so on.

What do you think Hongkongers will love most about your designs?

Hongkongers want excitement, they want to differentiate themselves from others, they are stylish, up-to-date, modern… I think my brand’s designs suit their style and mindset.

What are your dreams for your brand?

My dream is to keep building my brands, and to communicate my ideas on life to people worldwide.
