The Many Bars of St Kilda
Nightlife in St Kilda is renowned throughout Australia. The local streets overflow with revelers as they bar hop around the plethora of drinking holes in the area.
Grab some dinner along the waters of Port Phillip Bay and get set to party in one of Australia’s most happening and vibrant districts. Here’s my opinion on some other bars worth stumbling over to:
Looking for some American nostalgia? Freddie Wimpoles promises to take you straight to the U.S. of A with its décor reminiscent of something straight out of Bayou country (think True Blood or Roadhouse). Instead of overpriced Bud or Miller’s they’ve kept the cheap stuff local. Happy hour goes for three, with cheap pints of Brooklyn and $6 Pabst Blue Ribbon tall boy cans. You could also play a game of pool, or hit up the jukebox for the Beach Boys or Stevie Ray Vaughan track of your choice.
Secret Garden – 6/60 Fitzroy Street
A little more intimate than the Cellar Bar, Secret Garden is an ideal getaway for catching up with friends, or for a romantic dinner and drink (until things get crazy later in the night). With a great selection of cocktails and pizzas, and a serene setting above the hustle and bustle of Fitzroy Street, this venue is a great place for a relaxing start to your night out.
29th Apartment – 29 Fitzroy Street
Reasonably priced drinks, American style bar food, and crazy décor with table games like giant Jenga and Connect 4 make this bar a local favourite. 29th Apartment offer great mid week specials too like $1 pizzas on Wednesday nights with any drink purchase.
Friendly staff and a warm and fun atmosphere add to the charm of 29th Apartment. You’ll have a hard time not having a ball at this NYC inspired bar.
