A Beginner’s Guide to Green Minibuses in Hong Kong

You have to get from Mid-levels to Causeway Bay – what’s the best way to get there?

If your first thought is MTR, well – good luck walking down the slope in this sweltering heat. You’ll be drenched in your own sweat before even reaching Central MTR.

If your next thought is minibus –JACKPOT.

Although the MTR is quite convenient, the green minibuses are great options for commuting to and from. Unlike red minibuses, green minibuses have proper schedules, fixed fares and designated stops, making it very easy to take. The only thing you’ll have to know is when to call your stop (refer to How to take a HK Minibus) but other than that – you’re good to go!

Here are a few popular routes:

From Causeway Bay to Cyberport #10

Cyberport – it really isn’t that far, and it’s only a tunnel away. The only thing you have to be careful about is traffic but when you’re nice and comfy on a minibus, that shouldn’t be a problem (just give yourself adequate time)!

Starting point: Sino Plaza, Jaffe Road in Causeway Bay

Untitluued

End Point: Cyberport PTI

Unt99itled

Key Stops: Pacific Place, Aberdeen Street, HKU East and West Gate, Queen Mary Hospital, Sandy Bay Fire Station

Operating Hours: 06:30 – 21:00 (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $11.50

From Robinson Road to North Point #56

One of my favorite minibus routes because it goes from mid-levels to Wan chai, through causeway bay and close to Quarry Bay!

Starting point: Serene Court, Robinson Road

Untitloioied

End Point: Kam Hong Street, Marble Road (North Point)

Untitlepopod

Key Stops: High Street, Peel Street, Pacific Place, Hopewell Centre, Times Square, Victoria Park, North Point Wet Market

Operating Hours: 06:25 – 24:00 (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $9.2

From Admiralty to North Point: $6.0

From Hong Kong Station to the Peak #1

Double-deckers are fun – but when you’re not in the mood to mingle with tourists, take the minibus!

Starting point: Hong Kong Station (under IFC)

Untitlrsgdfvxed

End Point: The Peak

Untitiukhjnled

Key Stops: City Hall, Guilford Road, Peak Road, Matilda International Hospital

Operating Hours: 06:30 – 24:00 (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $10.2

From Causeway Bay to Stanley #40

Probably one of the most convenient (and faster) ways to travel to Stanley! But beware – lines can get pretty long so if you do choose to take this minibus, bear in mind the time!

Starting point: Jardine’s Bazaar

Untkuyjghbitled

End Point: Stanley Village

Untitleliukjbd

Key Stops: HK Country Club, Deep Water Bay Beach, Repulse Bay Beach, Chung Hom Kok Fire Station, Stanley Plaza, Stanley Prison

Operating Hours: 06:00 – 24:00 (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $10.8

From Aberdeen Tunnel to Stanley Village: $6.9

From Causeway Bay to Aberdeen #4C

The Aberdeen MTR is still a year or two away – so before that, the best way to get there is to ride the minibus through the Aberdeen tunnel.

Starting point: Cannon Street, Jaffe Road

Untitljhbed

End Point: Shek Pai Wan

Untitlehgcvhd

Key Stops: Ocean Court, Aberdeen Promenade, Port Centre, Wong Chuk Hang Road

Operating Hours: 06:00 – 24:00 (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $7.5

From Kowloon Tong to Hung Hom Ferry Pier #13

Want to avoid the crowds (and suitcases) at Kowloon Tong station? Take the minibus!

Starting point: Jumbo Court, Broadcast Drive, Kowloon Tong

Untitljyhbed

End Point: Hung Hom Ferry Pier

Untiewfcsdtled

Key Stops: Lok Fu, Kowloon City Plaza, St. Teresa’s Hospital and Whampoa Garden

Operating Hours: 07:30 – 22:30 (8:30 for Sundays and Public Holidays)

Full Fare: $7.5

From Ma Hang Chung Road to Hung Hom Ferry Pier: $4.6

Challenge yourself – ride the green minibus for a day!
