HK Arts Festival

If there is one festival that brings all performing arts together, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is IT! Whether you’re into Western Opera or classical ballet (men in tights – YES!) the festival offers enriching cultural and artistic experiences for everyone.

HKAF launched in 1973 and has since been a major international arts festival committed to inspiring the city by presenting local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts as well as a diverse range of educational events. Artists who have performed in the past include: Mikhail Baryshnikov (ballet), The Mariinsky Theatre (Western opera), Royal Shakespeare Company (theatre) and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (classical music). HKAF serves as a non-profit organization and runs every year from February to March.

HKAF invests heavily in arts education for young people as well as a range of activities to enhance engagement between artists and audiences. These include films, lecture demonstrations, masterclasses, workshops, symposia, backstage visits, exhibitions, meet-the-artists sessions, and guided tours.
