Bringing Lona Misa to life are hospitality legends and renowned Melbourne chefs Shannon Martinez of Smith & Daughters and Ian Curley of French Saloon, Kirk’s Wine Bar.

In the kitchen, yin meets yang; North meets South, oil meets vinegar. With decades of experience in European fine and bistro dining, Curley and vegan chef and author Martinez curate a heavily vegan menu offering vegetarian additions. Lona Misa is a produce-led vegan restaurant, paying homage to Martinez’ Latin roots, and sees the duo collaborate as Creative Culinary Partners.

Martinez and Curley oversee the menus across the vegan restaurant and bar, working closely with local farmers, providers and producers, to source all fresh ingredients.

Take what you know of vegan and vegetarian dining and think vibrant, loud, and unapologetic.

DRINKS

From kombucha on tap to Latin inspired cocktails, the drinks program celebrates the liveliness of La Bamba, pouring liberating libations from day to night, from garden to glass. On offer is a selection of seasonal cocktails, native G&Ts, forgotten Latin classics, and house-made macerations and cold-pressed juices. Meticulously mixed and creatively crafted using the freshest locally and sustainably sourced ingredients, inspired by the lush green gardens and vibrant botanical wonders.

On the locally inspired seasonal South Yarra Cocktail List, you’ll find the likes of The Pedro with Pineapple Tio Pepe Sherry, Pedro Ximenez Sherry, Fresh OJ, Fresh Pineapple, sugar, fresh mint and seasonal berries.

The Classics, however, serve a more paired back slice of paradise with options including the Hemingway Daiquiri with Pampero Blanco, Luxardo Maraschino, Fresh Lime and Pink Grapefruit, along with Martinez; a simple and impactful mix of Tanqueray Gin, Cinzano 1757 Di Torino Rosso Vermouth and Luxardo Maraschino served with a lemon twist.

Home to 90 seats and sustainably crafted to be shareable, seasonal and flavourful, Latin fare and bistro dining collide against the norms of the classical medley you know of vegan and vegetarian dining.

Lona Misa, on all fronts, is artfully combined, rich in history, unchartered in territory and designed by award-winning agency Luchetti Krelle. Lona Misa is located in the new designer hotel, Ovolo South Yarra, on the famed intersection of Toorak Road and Chapel Street in Melbourne’s cultural hub, South Yarra.

What are Lona Misa Opening times?
  • Breakfast: Monday to Sunday (7am – 11.30am)

  • Lunch: Saturday (12pm – 3pm) closed all other days

  • Dinner: Monday to Saturday (5pm – 10.30pm)

Can I make a reservation for 5 or more people? The website told me to call this number.
You are able to book online for reservations up to 5 people.For bookings 6 guests and over we require you to be on our Chef’s tasting menu, please send your booking inquiry through to us via email on lonamisa@ovolohotels.com
I want to make a booking. Is there any time slot available besides what’s shown on Open Table?
The time slots available on Open Table are the seating times we have available. No waitlist.
Can I place an order for take-away? When I click onto the takeaway option on your website nothing comes up.
Unfortunately, we do not offer takeaway service. We did have a takeaway option during lockdown, but this is no longer available and has recently been removed from our website.Stay tuned for more information as we will be Lunching Providoor in June.
I would like to book the set menu but I have certain food allergies. Who can I speak to about this and can this be accommodated?
We are able to cater for most dietary requirements. Feel free contact us via email on lonamisa@ovolohotels.com If you have any further questions. Onion and garlic is a key element and majority of our dishes so unfortunately can not be done with the set menu.Options are limited for our fructose free friends.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We do except walk-ins however highly recommend making a booking as we are not able to guarantee we will have tables available.

I would like to cancel the booking?
You’re able to cancel your booking online through OpenTable up to 24 hours before your booking. Alternatively please give us a call on (03) 9116 2000. There is a $50 charge per person with cancellations within 24 hours

You are able to order in room dining through the QR code scan in your room alternatively you can download our Ovolo South Yarra app and order via the In-room dining tile.
What time is the last seating?
Our last seating on Monday through to Thursday is 9pm and on Friday and Saturday 9.30pm
