Amphlett House, an elevated taphouse in Melbourne’s CBD on the corner of Little Bourke Street and Amphlett Lane, is now open!
The new venue is spearheaded by two of Australia’s hospitality finest, Andrea Gualdi (Maybe Sammy Founder, named ‘The Best Bar in Australasia 2021’ by ‘The World’s 50 Best Bars’) and celebrated chef, Ian Curley.
Located in the heart of Melbourne’s theatre and restaurant district, joining the likes of Longrain, Hochi Mama, Grossi Grill and Florentino, European plus more, the 120-seat taphouse has exceptional drinks and elevated pub classics that come together in a welcoming and upbeat atmosphere.
Looking for an honest bite? Humble fare is combined with big flavours to create Amphlett House’s mouth-watering menu of elevated pub classics, using quality Victorian produce. From a modestly snazzy Smoked Bone Marrow on Toast to start, to a fresh take on Aussie favourites such as Fish & Chips and the Parmie, the menu is unpretentious yet tantalising.

Amphlett House serves up the classics you love and a variety on tap including craft beers, wines, and a unique selection of handcrafted cocktails using Australian ingredients. The taphouse introduces wide-ranging drinks offering from renowned and progressive Australian and international producers, both in the alcoholic and non-alcoholic categories.
Amphlett House’s sophisticated, yet fun, the interior was executed by award-winning interior design and architecture studio, Luchetti Krelle. The interiors are sophisticated and stylish giving a nod to the building’s 80’s era. Memphis nostalgia was a key theme for the design, which has been interpreted through injecting colour and energy in the classic Ovolo manner.
The taphouse sits within designer hotel Laneways by Ovolo, and is the latest addition to Ovolo’s portfolio of cutting-edge food and drink offerings, and a move away from the unique restaurants and bars Ovolo is best known for.
