Celebrating Papa in the 8-5-2

Pooja Sadhwani

Father’s Day is right around the corner, (June 18th by the way, if anyone forgot and is panicking right now). But don’t beat yourself up about it, you’re not the only one. Often, we hype up Mother’s Day so much that our Fathers end up getting the short end of the stick, retrieving meaningless gift cards, cufflinks, or a drab Mark’s and Spencer’s tie as proof of the love and appreciation we hold.

Instead of scrambling to put a last-minute gift together (which he probably already has or will not use), why not give him your undivided attention and take him for a quality meal? Hong Kong is known for its widespread variety of sumptuous restaurants with staff that will treat your father in the royal way he deserves.  Check out our set picks and their promotional offers for Father’s Day below:

Amalfitana

Treat your father to a bohemian getaway with this Amalfi Coast inspired pizzeria. Located in the southside of Hong Kong island in The Pulse, Amalfitana offers classic Italian pizza served beside the Repulse Bay Beach to make you truly feel that you are on a vacation. This Father’s Day, Amalfitana throws in a free Peroni beer for every father that stumbles upon their restaurant. Reserve here.

Mercato

For a more upscale and classic Italian experience, head over to Mercato, located in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong in the California Building. Mercato brings an array of brunch foods to your table adding a twist to each dish, creating their own unique version. On top of the normal brunch offerings, on June 17 and 18 they will be serving options created especially for Father’s Day, including the lobster benedict, asparagus and bacon, and an exquisite peanut butter brownie sundae. To top this all, Father’s will receive 2 hours’ worth of a free flow Prosecco of their choice. Book before they get too full!

For an Asian option choose Duddell’s, whose Executive Chef, Fung Man-Ip, has created two exclusive set menus for the upcoming Father’s Day celebrations. Geared towards providing a local Hong Kong experience, the menus both offer variations of Cantonese appetizers, main courses, and desserts, available both at lunch and dinner. Along with this, all honorary dads will receive gifts from Fook Ming Tong tea. This restaurant is slightly pricier than the others in the list, with the sets being each HKD 1080 and HKD 1680, respectively. Reserve here.
