There’s no need to be a Grinch and send your tree off to landfill – here’s our top tips on how to be sustainable during the festive season.

Once Christmas is over and you’ve taken down the tinsel, it’s time to think about recycling your Xmas tree! Real trees are much more sustainable than artificial trees and can be easily recycled. Local authorities often arrange curb-side pick up or special drop-off points during the new year, so check out your local authority website.

If your garden needs some lovin’, there’s nothing better than fresh mulch to perk it up. Xmas trees make the perfect mulch and, bonus, your garden will smell wonderful! If you don’t have a mulcher, you can simply put the branches in your compost and let the magic happen!

Why not recycle your Xmas tree the natural way and chop it into firewood? You’ll be grateful during the chilly season when you’ve got the fire roaring with your very own recycled firewood.

If you didn’t purchase a real Xmas tree, you can still get into the Christmas spirit and recycle it. Pop it in the cupboard to bring out next festive season or send it to your local charity shop who can re-sell it.
