Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Alexa is Amazon’s intelligent personal assistant that powers devices such as the Echo. It’s the voice that responds when you make commands such as “Please turn off the lights” and “HANGRY ALERT – I need food” (handsfree, I know right!). So long are the days of picking up remotes – just turn to Alexa and your wish is her command.
Even better – she’s got powers. Powers to make your life more convenient, make how you do business more efficient, make how you interact more natural.
Imagine this:
You’ve just arrived in Sydney. It was a long flight – crying babies, bad food, you name it. You’re dreary ‘cause well..you hate plane rides. You arrive at Ovolo Woolloomooloo, and as soon you open the door to your room, you say “Alexa, dim the lights and play Richard Clayderman. Just like home…you’re asleep within 10.
“Alexa, lights on, play I’ve got a Feeling and what’s the traffic like?” New day new start, you need some music to pump you up, and while you’re suiting up, Alexa informs you that there’s a bit of a traffic problem, so you leave precisely 17 minutes and 25 seconds earlier and rock up at your meeting like no one’s business.
“Alexa, I need a restaurant recommendation for 4 people, 7 pm, preferably casual.” Yep – no more w-w-w-dot-google-dot-com with your fingers, just say it and Alexa will find the perfect restaurant for you and your clients so you can seal any deal you lay out.
“Alexa I need to buy a toy for my kid, a gift for my friend, find me the nearest café and I need a drink at 7” and BOOM. Alexa will have mapped out a to-do list for you, give you the address to the nearest café and toy store and find you the best place to shop. Unbelievable huh.
And to be frank, that’s just the tip of the Alexa-berg. She’s capable of giving you the low down on sporting games and scores, control lights and temperature, even calling an Uber or your favorite restaurant. It’s really everything at your ultimate convenience.
